Sorry I'm a day late everyone (^o^); Had quite the busy weekend, but now I'm back and ready with a whole batch of new music and some of your requests.

As a special promo, I'm going to leave this post unlocked so even if you're not on Sheki Music's list, have a sampling. =3 If you like what you see, go to this entry and leave a comment after reading the rules. It's so simple, I don't know why people fail the spot-check test. Hell, I'll even tell you what you need to do!

Comments: Requested by strangepowers. Actually, she didn't request the live...but apparently this is what I have. D: I downloaded a torrent of bird music eons ago and this was in there, and it wasn't marked as LIVE except for the file tag, which I didn't pay attention to. (>_<) Sorry!! I hope this is okay - it doesn't actually sound live, so I wonder. Anyway, bird is a Japanese musician who's done all sorts of music that isn't outrightly mainstream. She's done jazz, light hip-hop (that was more jazz/rap than anything), samba, R&B, and has even bordered on the folk genre. "Mukae ni Kitara" is from around her folk genre time, but it's more of a sleepy acoustic track than folky. It doesn't even sound live - if it was live, I'm going to guess it was inside a small venue if that *laugh* bird's voice is deep and soothing, and this song is great for a lazy day.

Comments: Requested by ijennie. GaGaalinG is a Japanese rock band fronted by (former?) KERA model MAIMING, now known as MYM. After releasing their second album in 2006 the band switched labels and has been releasing singles on a steady basis since late 2007. "TAKE ME HEAVEN" is one of my favorite tracks from their debut album. The majority of the album wasn't produced that well (it sounds more mono than stereo?) but this is definitely one of the better songs, and I'm oddly attracted to MAIMING's wild voice.

Comments: Karen Girl's is a new girl group that just debuted with their single "Over The Future," which is being used as the theme song for the anime "Zettai Karen Children." Because they're all part of the same talent school Perfume went to, there's three of them, and they're young, they're considered "younger sisters" of Perfume. I was a little apprehensive when I heard about them because Hello! Project practically dominates the young girl group area of the industry, but they're a nice change. It's refreshing to hear a girl group that doesn't have tired dances or songs with the same hook/sound to them (I'm looking at you, C-ute, Berryz Koubou, and most other UFA-affiliated girl groups...sorry guys). Karen Girl's are all really adorable, their voices sound great together, and the song's cute and catchy.

Comments: MEG is a Japanese fashion designer and musician who debuted in 2001. In spring 2007, Nakata Yasutaka began to produce her full-time. She released a hastily-planned album back in December that flopped, but her latest CD, "STEP," surely makes up for that atrocity. The album is track after track of awesome, and one of my only complaints about it is that there aren't enough songs! "PRISM BOY" is one of my favorites from the album, probably because it sounds like it was meant for capsule (the chorus seems suited for Toshiko's voice) and at times, Perfume. It has an awesome beat and that wonderful wonderful synth Nakata manipulates so well. Ohohoohooooo. The only thing better than it is the extended mix <3<3<3 (If you want the full album, I have it for download at girlpop_mania in a locked post.)

Comments: THE MILKEES are an all-girl guitar pop band that formed in 2004. They consider themselves a "double sister band," as members Berry and PECO are sisters, as well as Petra and Lily. They released their long-awaited second album late last year, and included were a handful of original songs and covers of old Motown and rock'n roll songs from the 1960s <3 This is a cover of the song of the same name by The Marvelettes, originally released in 1961. I love popular music of the 50s and 60s, and THE MILKEES brings it back oh-so-nicely (^o^)

Suitei Shoujo was a Japanese duo that was originally known for their scantily clad appearance, and when tATu hit the scene, they decided to popularize on that by wearing school uniforms nearly full-time. This is my most favorite Suitei Shoujo single and what I think is their most heartfelt. It's a very sad, melancholy song about someone who has been distanced from their family. A different version was used as the ending for the movie "Ju-on." The girls disbanded in 2007.

Comments: Utada Hikaru is one of the most successful Japanese artists of our era, with her releases always making the top 5 of the charts. She's been a household name since practically her debut in 1998. She's well known for having been born and raised in New York, and even now she still travels back and forth between homes. "Stay Gold" is her 20th single (a double a-side with the song "HEART STATION") and what I consider to be the closest she's gotten to R&B in years. I love it for that, because I miss her R&B days <3 The song runs on a fairly simple piano melody with bittersweet lyrics that even now I can't stop listening to.

Comments: YUI is a Japanese musician who hit the scene in 2005 and has become extremely successful after she co-starred in the film "Taiyou no Uta" and recorded a character song for it. Since then her albums have hit #1 and her singles are all top #5. I heard "Namidairo" as the ending theme for the drama "4shimai Tanteidan" (Ichikawa Yuiii <3<3<3) and couldn't understand why such a sad-sounding song was being used as the outro for a mystery, but otherwise comedic drama. I still don't get it, but I adore the song. YUI sounds so sad (T_T); Since she went all crazy popular I haven't been able to get into her music (...that came out worse-sounding than I wanted it to) but this song's stuck to me, and I want to give everything else a chance now too.

Comments: Zwei is a Japanese rock duo of Ayumu (vocalist) and Megu (bassist), and they're one of my utmost favorite bands and have been since their debut in 2004. In 2006 they transferred from VAP to Universal Music Japan, and the duo released their long-awaited second single with the label a couple weeks ago. I really do not have high opinions of Universal and am still very hesitant about them with Zwei, but "DISTANCE" is actually okay. What's even better is the b-side, "Koe." Zwei's sound changed to a more watered-down rock when they moved to Universal, but with "Koe" it's like our girls have almost come home (*o*) I'm still not happy with their drastic image changes (stop trying to make them visual, Universal), but if Universal lets them release more music like this I'd be happy.

It has been months since my last update but I want to assure everyone I'm still alive. I will get around to adding new people to the list either tonight or tomorrow. This is just a message to let everybody who was waiting to be added know that you've been added and I just posted an update. =)

Also, it turns out Livejournal's gotten some very spiffy features, including one that easily lets you see which users do/don't have you listed as a friend, and another feature that lets you easily add/remove them. :D So, I've unfriended all of you who unfriended me. If you feel I did this in mistake, just comment. If you want to be let back on, you need to add me back again, comment on this entry again, and keep me added. I currently have 419 added people and 419 of them have added me back. :D ...of course, that sentence isn't from an automatic script. xD But in other words, my number of friends needs to = mutual friends. I'll be able to tell if you take me off after I add you. \:D/

If you're new to Sheki Music and not part of the list already, read the rules and leave a comment to be added. You need an LJ account to be added. Thanks!

1. Comment on every single entry you download something from. You don't have to comment on entries you don't download from, but if you'd like to that's fine as well. ^^

2. You must have me added back BEFORE YOU COMMENT to stay on my friends list. You must also keep me added at all times to prevent being unfriended on my part! There are too many people wanting an add to waste the spaces on someone who won't even check the journal. As far as I know, Livejournal still has a limit on how many people one can add to their friends list - that limit is 750.

3. I need to know that you read the rules (or at least part of them, I guess). Include somewhere in your comment the words 'French Fry' or you won't be added.

4. If you own a music journal or upload to torrent sites, you better hope I don't see music I ripped exclusively for Sheki Music unless you have my permission. (You'll know it's ripped by me if the names "Wapiko" or "Amanda" are in the "Encoded by" section of the mp3's ID tag.) If you do this and you're on my friends list, you'll be permanently banned. It's even worse if I find out you did it and didn't comment. Ugh. Have decency. In other words, don't re-upload it AT ALL unless I say you can, regardless of where you downloaded it! I can't control Soulseek or Kazaa, but it'd be nice. Also, don't hotlink any of my mp3s. I will find out.
